About the community

From six families to a community center of our own

The Ahiska Turkish Community Center was organized in Dayton in 2009, as families from the Ahiska Turkish community settled in the city. The center later made its permanent home in the former Bomberger Park building on East Fifth Street, where one room was rebuilt as a mosque.

Over the years the center has hosted Quran and English lessons, sports in the gymnasium, women's committee meetings and charity work, a day care, and space for faith events.
